In interior design, fees are often calculated according to the surface area of the property. Yet over the years, I have found that floor area does not always reflect the true complexity of a project.

A small home can sometimes require more work than a large apartment or house. The number of rooms has a major influence on plans, technical details, layout decisions and the volume of visualisations to produce. An additional bedroom, office or bathroom often adds more complexity than several extra square metres in a living room.

In my view, the role of an interior designer is to solve design problems rather than simply process square metres.

This is why we prefer fixed fees based on the actual scope and complexity of the project. The client knows the cost in advance, while we can focus on the work that genuinely needs to be done rather than on an arbitrary calculation based only on floor area.
